My Country Home
Of all the places I may roam,
I love the most: my country home.
Waking at dawn to the rooster's crow.
Time to get up with the sun's first glow,
Eat my meal and away I go!
Check all the animals, milk the cow;
And it's off to the fields, the hay mow.
I relish the smell of the new mown hay,
As we leave it to dry for another day.
Mend the fences all around ;
See if the cattle can all be found.
Head back to the house for the evening meal;
Rest awhile-- how great I feel!
Cool evening approaches; time to gather the eggs,
Oh, see the new calf on his wobbly legs!
As slowly the end of the day draws nigh;
I look around me and offer a sigh,
The countryside's peace, as the sun disappears;
The song of the crickets-- fond music to my ears;
The coyotes' evening howl from far away--
God seems so near in this country place!
Look to the 'morrow with a smile on my face.
All the world seems calm and still;
I love it here-- and I always will.
